Back in 1985, Safari 4x4 was born out of simple passion for what was then the world’s most rugged and long-lasting off road vehicle – the Series Land Rover – made famous on the plains of Africa. Safari 4x4 specialized in the beginning in service and repair and especially the restoration of classic Land Rover safari vehicles, like those featured in movies such as Born Free, The Gods Must Be Crazy, White Hunter Black Heart, Mighty Joe Young, and classic ground-breaking television documentaries like Merlin Perkins, Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom. We were ourselves riveted to the mystique of the Land Rover even before we were old enough to turn wrenches…

And then turn wrenches we did! Safari 4x4 soon specialized in the complete disassembly and painstaking rebuilding like new, piece by piece, classic Series Land Rovers and then repaired hundreds more. Most Safari 4x4 restorations are still driving today, some which are over 46 years old! These restored Series Land Rovers exemplify Safari 4x4’s dedication to the Land Rover since its beginnings – down to the chassis! Restored classic models of all types and years were meticulously restored by Safari 4x4 to be better than new, and were purchased by dedicated enthusiasts from Vancouver Island to Connecticut, and from Minnesota to Puerto Rico. We kept Land Rover vehicles running strong even before the first dealerships arrived back in the United States in 1987! (All the previous dealerships disappeared in 1974.)

As Safari 4x4 grew from a two-person operation back in 1985 into Colorado’s and the Rocky Mountain Region’s foremost Independent Land Rover Service and Repair facility, we carried with us this heritage and meticulous dedication to Land Rovers which still governs us today.

Safari 4x4 built its customer relationships one Rover owner at a time based on trust, integrity, professionalism, and most of all, on an absolute dedication to service and repair excellence. Since we repair Land Rovers and are not a sales dealership, we focus our approach on that of fixing Land Rovers right for the long-term, the first time.
